A new investment in East Sacramento Redevelopment of the former Rite Aid site

Alhambra Station

The former Rite Aid building at Alhambra and L Street has been vacant for several years, and the national drugstore model that once supported it is no longer viable. The property owner is now proposing a thoughtfully redesigned mixed-use project that includes climate-controlled storage, ground-floor retail space, and in direct response to community feedback, newly added residential housing along Seville Way.

The project now incorporates twelve residential units along with additional Moorish architectural elements across the façade, including tile accents, enhanced brick detailing, and a refined color palette consistent with the Alhambra Corridor design guidelines. Additionally, it includes improved landscaping, enhanced pedestrian safety features, secure bicycle parking, and a more intentional street presence designed to reduce nuisance activity and improve the overall character of the corridor.

We are sharing information early and inviting the community to stay engaged as the design continues to evolve. Your feedback will help refine key architectural details and inform our conversations with City staff and the Planning Commission.
